Ladies Football: St. Dominic’s U12 and U14 ladies have now finished up for the year. The girls are showing great potential for the future. The U12 management team of P.J Cafferkey, Padraig Grady and the U14 management team of David O’Connor, P.J. and Rory Silke would like to thank the girls for all the commitment and hard work shown all year. This would not be possible without the help and support of all those in the background. Thank you to the parents, supporters, tea makers and anyone who has helped out during the year. The Ladies Football committee also deserve a big thank.

Scor: Scor ná bPáistá will take place in St. Johns Community Centre on Saturday 17th October at 5pm. All primary school children in the parish are welcome to take part in the following disciplines: Figure dancing, Sola singing, Recitation, Group instrumental music, Leiriu, Ballad group and Set dancing. Minor Hurling: St Dominic s u16 hurlers were made County champions when they overcame Four Roads in an exciting close game, on a score line of St. Dominics 0-13 Four Road 1-7. Vincent Pierse and his management team made history since it was 26 years ago when the last time Dominics team won this cup. Weather conditions were excellent for hurling. St. Dominics got on the score board first when Conor Kennelly won a free. Conor created plenty of chances, playing at full forward, he scored three points early in the game but Four Roads came back with a goal. Four Roads tried to score a second goal but Cormac Miley made a brilliant save. In midfield M.J. Egan was excellent both in play as well with long range frees. Daniel O’Neill was fouled on a number occasions giving his team a slight lead but Four Road Neill Hynes was picking long range points. Before halftime Michael Treacy scored two unanswered points leaving the halftime score Dominic s 0-9 Four Roads 1-5pt, the second half was electric, both teams giving of their all. It was neck and neck all the way to the finish line. St. Dominics goalkeeper was outstanding, pulling off numerous saves, with Padraig O’Haiplin and Ethan Connaughton battling hard. Conor McCormack tried hard up front. Dominics held on to their lead when Dwane Martin who was ice cool on free taking scoring the final point. Dominics were worthy winners with Jack Lohan receiving the man of the match, while captain Conor Grimes received the cup. He thanked, Vincent, Declan, Mike, and Joe. Minor Hurling: U16: Congratulations to our U16 team and their management who enjoyed a great win over Roscommon Gaels in the play-offs for the County Final. Well done girls! Their County Final is fixed for Wednesday, 21st October in Lisnamult. Time to be confirmed.

Senior Camogie: Preparations are well underway ahead of the Junior B Connaught Final next weekend when our Hodson Bay sponsored Senior Team take on Shamrock’s of Loughrea. This team were crowned Junior County Champions in August when they defeated Four Roads. They then beat Na Brideoga of Mayo in the Connaught Semi-Final two weeks ago. This team are a committed group of players who have trained hard throughout the year and are most deserving of their place in the Connaught Final on Saturday. This game is fixed for 4pm in Knockcroghery. Your support would be greatly appreciated for this match. We wish the panel and their management every success on Saturday. Hard luck to our Hodson Bay sponsored Senior Camogie Team who were beaten by Four Roads in the Senior Championship last weekend. The girls displayed great skill and determination throughout the game.
