Senior Football: Intermediate Championship: St. Dominics 0-12 : Tulsk 2-15. Dominics came up against a very strong experienced Tulsk side in this first round Championship match on Saturday evening in Ballyleague in very wet conditions. Dominics young side were always going to be up against it but looked well up for the battle with early points by Tommy Hurley and Michael McGloin. Tulsk responded well and knocked over four points by the 14th minute. Conor Fallon then kicked a good point from play which was cancelled out quickly by Tulsk. Dominics had their best patch with points from Ultan Kelly, Conor Fallon and Sean Dervan to lead by one, 0-6 to 0-5 after 23 minutes. Tulsk responded with a quick break resulting in a superb goal by Conlon. Again Dominics fought back and finished the half well with two frees from Conor Fallon and an Ultan Kelly point edging Dominics ahead 0-9 to 1-5 at the break. Tulsk emerged a very focused and forceful side for the second half and Dominics just had no answer, only registering a point from a C. Fallon free in 25 minutes as Tulsk revelled in the deteriorating conditions. A somewhat dubious Tulsk goal by O’Rourke in the 46th minute ended the match as a contest and Tulsk used all their experienced to ease out winners with just two late Dominics points from Conor Fallon rounding off a poor second half performance. Malachy Gately will be looking to be more competitive against Oran in the next round and he will be concerned with his sides second half performance.
